It lies at the beginning of the hills dominated by the Calvarina Mount, an extinct volcano. All around you can find vineyards, woods and meadows and from the ground come out petrified lavic masses.
The name Ronca' should derive from "runco", weel-known as billhook, the tool used by the first inhabitants of that area to cut the wood of the woods, which in the past were larger than now.
In 1303 at Ronca' settled down a german colony, with whom the ruler of Verona, Alberto della Scala, established an agreement: they could cultivate the ground for free on condition that they would pay him at the end of every year 20 money and a lamb |
. The most prosperous period was under the rule of Venice'signory, during which they reclaim some grounds, they built some irrigation canals, all this brought a development for the wine growing and for the cultivation of the olive trees and of the cereals.
At this age unfortunately followed centuries tormented by the plague and famines.

The principal economic sources are the agriculture and the handicraft.
Ronca' is the most important village for the wine growing (durella grapes) and thanks to its wine choices, it has the appellative of "the land of the sparkling wines of Verona".
